I am a person of many passions. My greatest being web design, travel and photography. I have many other interest too but to list them all I’d have to write a book. Yes, that is my personality. Both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because it makes me open minded and able to learn and enjoy many subjects and topics. It is a curse because I’m good at many things but never awesome at any of them. This blog at least lets me share some of my passions with you.

Travel Bug

The travel bug. I caught it from my father. Although he always made sure we traveled when I was a kid, it wasn’t until 2007 when he planned the trip that changed my idea of what it means to travel. The internet has made it possible for us to create trips we have only dreamed of when I was a kid. We sit at home for months before the trip and plan everything down to the most minuscule details right at our computers. So far we have done these kind of trips in Europe since it’s a cluster of many countries in a small area. It’s easy to experience many cultures within short travel distances from each other.

My dad, son and me in Eze, France.

If you are a sailor or have a passion for sailing adventures, I have those too. Thanks to my father, who greatly insisted, I got my sailing licence and so we also have some sailing adventures that will be part of my travels.

Europe Buffet

So here it is. Our trips are three weeks long and my dad likes to call it the Europe Buffet. We spend only a couple days in each location, which allows us to sample a bit of many things in one trip. We only use trains as means of transportation. You may choose to use a car but for us we don’t like the hassle of having to worry about parking and safety on the road. We book hotels close to the train station and pack very light. Yes, this is basically backpacking through Europe but choosing not to stay in hostels but actual hotels. For the younger crowd and ones without children, hostels are a great way to save money and meet new friends. For families, hotels are probably more attractive. We plan these three week trips every three years. Next year will be our 4th. Wow! I can’t believe it.
